The Affordable Care Act (ACA) also know as Obamacare or Bidencare, was put into place to help make health insurance easier for people to get. They are sold on the health care Marketplace. They cover preventive care, cover pre-existing conditions, and provide benefits for things like doctor visits, prescriptions and lab tests. You need to enroll during the enrollment period.
Open enrollment happens once a year unless you have a qualifying event. If you miss this open enrollment, you will have to wait until the next open enrollment. Open enrollment is from November 1 through January 15
Short term insurance may be for you if you are unable to apply for Affordable Care Act (ACA) coverage because you missed the open enrollment period, waiting for your ACA plan to start, turning 26 and coming off your parent's insurance, between jobs waiting for your new benefits to start or healthy and under 65.
Get coverage fast, pick your own deductible, pick your coverage length, drop coverage with no penalty once a permanent insurance solution becomes available and may be able to apply for another short term plan when the first one runs out.
